Four for Thursday: Articles I’ve Read and You Should Too

Today I begin a new series on Capitolism: Four for Thursday. (If you have a better name, let me know; winner gets a prize and public accolades by this august blog.) Every Thursday, I will post four articles I’ve read that week, and you should too. I may add commentary or allow them to stand on their own. But rest assured, I have discriminating taste and will pass along only the best of the past week.

Without more ado, the first-ever Four for Thursday:

Politicians and the Peculiar Worship of Full Employment, by John Tamny, an underrated analyst and writer. By the way, if you don’t read the Real Clears, you should: Real Clear Markets, Real Clear Politics, Real Clear World and Real Clear Sports. Well worth perusing for five minutes every morning. Plus, it’s a great business idea.

The Bull’s Eye on Business’ Back, by Steven Malanga.

Will the Entrepreneur Boom Miss the U.S.?, by Rich Karlgaard.

GE Seeks Lessons from Recession Stumble, by Paul Glader. Curious – will GE critically explore Jeff Immelt’s leadership as an element of this lesson-learning? He has steered the conglomerate for more than eight years and his decisions have unquestionably caused some of GE’s recent missteps. More on Immelt and his predecessor, Jack Welch, in future posts –  including an evaluation of Immelt’s performance. (Full disclosure: I own GE stock).
